Today is the first day as a student mentor.  I am exicited in the prospect of trying to help new students in settling in and guiding them through their academic journey.  It's my goal to have a core group of students that are based in both the City and Caerleon campus.  I got reffered about the scheme by one of my lecturers.  I am so glad that he did.  This morning when I woke up I was eager to get started and jump in and find out all about the Student Mentor scheme.  After a full day of planned activities and long sessions of what was really Q and A I am still buzzed and eager to start.  You can find us "smurfs" with the blue t-shirts all is needed is just white beenie caps then we will be fully fledge smurfs and smurfettes.  I think the thing that I have learnt most about today is that there is a whole different side to Uni that I didn't really know about.  Plus if the rumours are true and there will be karaoke in September during our main training week then I know that this is a team that I will work well in and hope to gain new skills that I can adept to my future studies and job skills set.
